Kundapur, Jun 7: Members of Communist Party of India (Marxist) and Democratic Youth Federation of India staged a protest here condemning the brutal attack by Sangh Parivar miscreants on three alleged cattle traffickers including Kollur Dharma Peetha swamiji Maithri Kashyap.
The protesters demanded the resignation of Home Minister K J George for failing to curb the rampant vigilante attacks and moral policing by Sangh Parivar across the state.
Addressing the gathering CPIM activist Narasimha said that inebriated with Hindutva, the Sangh Parivar activists these days go to any extent to disturb peace in the society.
He said that even though swamiji and three others had obtained prior permission from the local police station to transport the vehicle, the Hindutva activist tore the permission letter and attacked the transporters.
“It is a tragedy that the home minister is doing nothing to prevent such crimes,” he lamented.
DYFI activist Rajesh, speaking on the occasion, said that a few jobless youth in coastal Karnataka have developed a network of moral police for their survival. “Attacking cattle transporters and couples of different communities has become their routine business,” he said.
“This proves that the home department in the state is inactive and inefficient,” he added.
One held
Meanwhile sleuths of Kundapur police station have arrested one person in connection with the assault on alleged cattle traffickers.
Udupi district superintendent of police Dr Boralingaiah has identified the arrested as Santosh, said to be a Bajrang Dal activist. He said that 10 more people will be arrested soon.
