
Mangalore, Nov 28: Condemning the brutal attack on journalist V T Prasad by a group of men near his residence in Bantwal taluk on Wednesday, a delegation of reporters and mediapersons submitted a memorandum to the Dakshina Kannada Superintendent of Police here on Thursday, urging action against the attackers at the earliest.
A group of mediapersons met SP Shantanu Sinha at his office in the city, urging him to arrest the scribe's attackers as soon as possible.
Mr Prasad was reportedly attacked by about 40 suspected PFI workers using wooden clubs and rods, due to which he suffered severe injuries on the head, face, abdomen, hand and legs.
It is said that he was attacked for getting a house repaired for the poor family of a Muslim woman living in the same village as Mr Prasad. According to the complaint filed by Mr Prasad, few people from the same community were raged by this gesture and attacked him.
The mediapersons also requested that the false case filed against Mr Prasad, accusing him of molesting the woman, also be taken back.
Naveen Soorinje, Tharanath Kapikad, Divakar Padmunja, Ahmed Anwar, Mohd Irshad, Nagesh Padu, B S Jeevan and others were present.
