Mangalore, Nov 23: Two more Mangalorean youth have been detained by Bihar police in connection with the illegal money transaction case, in which Ayisha Banu and her husband Zubair Hussain were arrested two weeks ago by the same police.
Sources from Bihar police, who are in the city, told Coastaldigest.com that they have detained two more persons, identified as Muhammad Asif, a resident of Kuthar-Madaka on the outskirts of Mangalore, and Mushthaq, a resident of Suralpady near Kaikamba.
It is said that Muhammad Asif is pursuing BBM course at Kanachur College in Deralakatte while Mushthaq is a cancer patient and undergoing treatment from Kidwai Memorial Institute of Oncology, Bangalore.
“Based on the information gathered from the arrested couple we plunged into action and detained two more people,” said a police officer on condition of anonymity.
He said that Zubair was using Asif and Mushthaq to dispatch money to certain people. He used to contact them over phone very often.
“We have secured transit warrant for Asif after producing him before a local court today. We had detained him on Friday. Mushthaq was detained from his house. He also will be produced before a judge to obtain transit warrant,” he said.
Asked about the media reports about alleged terror links Ayisha Banu and Zubair, he said that the investigation was still under progress. “It is confirmed that they had involved in illegal money transaction. But, we have yet to confirm to whom they used to distribute money,” he said.
