
The deceased has been identified as Shruthi Kulal, aged 21, daughter of local resident Lokaya Moolya.
Student of Kamaje Government First Grade College in B C Road, Shruthi had gotten married to a youth from Madanthyar just days ago on June 7. She had returned to her paternal home a week ago and showing signs of fever, she visited a local doctor for a check-up.
Despite being prescribed medicines, it is said that Shruthi did not respond to the treatment and her fever did not recede.
Alarmed by concerns of dengue in the taluk, Shruthi was taken and admitted to a private hospital in Mangaluru for better treatment. However, failing to respond to the medicines, Shruthi died in the hospital on Tuesday morning.
Hailing from a poverty-stricken family, her father works at a cloth merchant store in Mangaluru while her mother rolls beedis to earn a living. Out of the two daughters they had, Shruthi was the younger one while the elder one had already been married.
