Bantwal, Jun 28: In two separate cases in Bantwal taluk where young girls had gone missing recently, Bantwal Rural police have said that the recent developments in both the cases had taken new surprising turns.
In both the cases, the girls, who had apparently eloped with their boyfriends belonging to other communities, have lodged complaints against them.
A case had been registered at Bantwal Rural police station on June 21 when a girl went missing from Maripalla in Pudu village in Bantwal taluk. Close to the heels of the missing incident, the disappearance of a married youth Irshad (24), resident of Pandavarakallu Kominadka in Badagakajekar village in the same taluk had fuelled suspicion that the two had eloped together and a case was registered in this regard.
After several efforts by family members in searching for the missing couple, they were traced in Dharwad.
In view of the complaint lodged by the girl alleging that she was kidnapped by Irshad who had also raped her, Bantwal Rural police registered a case against Irshad, took him into custody and produced him before the judicial magistrate.
In a separate instance, the girl who had gone missing from Sajipanadu on June 11, turned up at the Bantwal Rural police station on June 17 along with a youth named Imtiyaz.
In her statement to the police, she admitted that she had gone with Imtiyaz on her own will. Refusing to return home with her parents, the girl was sent to Prajna Counselling Centre, Mangaluru by the police.
On Saturday, she lodged a complaint at the police station with her parents that Imtiyaz had kidnapped and taken her along with him. Registering a case in this regard, police are conducting an investigation.
A police team consisting of Bantwal Rural police station inspector Rakshith and other personnel, led by Bantwal circle inspector Belliappa, is conducting the investigation in both the cases.
