Mangalore, May 11: There was an air of fun at Bearys Institute of Technology campus near Mangalore on Saturday. Students dressed in ceremonial graduation robes took an oath to be true to their professions. It was the second graduation day ceremony of BIT.
Chief guest Ramesh Phatak, vice president and head, Schenieder Electric Global Technology Centre, Bangalore, told the students to master their professions and contribute to society through their alma mater.
He called upon the young graduates to give more importance to enhance their knowledge competitively face the challenges of technical field.
Recalling the past days, wherein both parents and students were confused about continuation of education after around 15 years of learning, Mr Phatak said that the advancement of information technology has completely changed the scenario and the younger generation has hundreds of opportunities provided they have knowledge and talent.
Presiding over the programme Syed Mohamed Beary, chairman, Bearys Academy of Learning, said that his institution intends to send their graduates to all strategic fields including defense.
He said that at least 10% of their engineering graduates should serve in civil service and defense, 20% of them should be able to establish their own industries and around 60% should get high level jobs in various places.
Dr Balaveera Reddy, former vice chancellor, VTU, Belgaum released the souvenir of the institution.
The graduation day was followed by BIT Utsav. Speaking on the occasion, Karnataka Health and Family Welfare Minister U T Khader urged the young graduates to do their best for the society. “Accept and master your passion for any field, and respect for you in society is guaranteed,” he said.
He also congratulated BIT for its contribution to the field of technical education development of the district.
