Udupi, Aug 18: The graduates should become job providers instead of job seekers, said Prahlada, Vice-Chancellor of Defence Institute of Advanced Technology, Deemed University, Pune.

“It is also to be noted that employability factor of a fresh graduate is around 20 per cent in the country. I do not agree to it. Perhaps job mapping with individual capacity needs to be seen together,” he said.
Dr. Prahlada said the earlier generations of Indians as scientists and engineers had exhibited their natural strength as good workers and employees. But now, out of box thinking, brainstorming, blue sky research, high risk science and technology and some sort of chaos was required to generate new ideas and solutions. Such free thinking should be encouraged.
At the same time, it was necessary to engineer products, the country required high-tech infrastructure, modern tools and management expertise.
“Only then we can meet the requirements of quality food, shelter, clothing, water, transport, communication, education, safety, security, healthcare and quality of life for our country of billion plus,” he said.
This could be made possible only when there was well organized and disciplined human resource, entrepreneurship, skilled labour, efficient engineering and professional management, all together, he added.
