Belthangady, Jun 14: A youth who suffered injuries from a road accident that occurred 14 years ago in Belthangady, succumbed to his death on Friday after failing to respond to treatment.
When Ansar was a 10-year old boy, he was injured in a hit-and-run accident by a Tata Sumo vehicle near his home while he was crossing the road in his village. Ansar was gravely injured in the accident and had developed renal failure since then.
Following the accident, he had recovered slightly with the help of rigorous dialysis and treatment over a few years. With slight improvement in his condition, he began working as a security guard in Mangalore.
However, his condition began to worsen a week ago and Ansar was admitted to the hospital. Failing to respond well to dialysis, he passed away in the wee hours of Friday.
Well-respected by locals in village
Ansar was the son of D Abdurrahman and Zuhara, residents of Goliyangadi near Venur in Belthangady taluk.
Although suffering from a grave condition, Ansar would render help as much as he could around the village. Those who knew him closely said that he was known as a social worker by the locals in the village where he lived.
His final rites were performed at Jumma masjid in Kundadabettu.
