Mangaluru, Jun 15: In what could have been a major tragedy, two engines and one unreserved coach of a Bengaluru-bound train derailed hours after it left Mangaluru.
The incident took place at 2:10 a.m. on Monday between Shirivagilu and Yadakumari stations of Mangaluru - Hassan section in Mysore division of South Western Railway.
A press release by the Palakkad division of Southern Railway said here that no casualties or injuries have been reported.
Railways authorities have made arrangements for KSRTC buses to ferry the passengers to their destinations.
Following the derailment of the Kannur– Karwar – Bengaluru Express, the train traffic on this section has been temporarily disrupted, it said.
The service of train no. 16515 Yeshwantpur – Karwar Express, which was scheduled to leave Yeshwantpur on Monday, has been cancelled.
The service of train no. 16517 / 16523 Bengaluru – Kannur / Karwar Express, which left Bengaluru on June 14, has been partially cancelled between Sakleshpur and Kannur / Karwar on June 15. South Western Railway has arranged buses for moving passengers by road to Mangaluru and Karwar, the release said.

The service of train no. 16518 / 16524 Kannur – Bengaluru Express, which was scheduled to leave Kannur on June 15, has been partially cancelled between Kannur and Mangalore Central.
The service of train no. 16524 Karwar – Bengaluru Express, which was scheduled to leave Karwar on June 15, has been partially cancelled between Karwar and Mangalore Central.’
