Udupi, Aug 18: The Udupi district police handed over all documents in the Bhaskar Shetty murder case to a team of CID that arrived here on Thursday.

K.T. Balakrishna, Superintendent of Police, said that the CID team came here under the leadership of D.C. Rajappa, Superintendent of Police, CID. The Investigating Officer of the district police in the case, D.P. Suman, handed over all the documents in the case to Mr. Rajappa.
“We have informed the CID what all investigation we have conducted in the case so far. Henceforth, our role will be complementary; we will go to the assistance of the CID, if they ask for any help,” he said.
Praveen Kumar RN, senior assistant public prosecutor, said, "As there's no investigation officer from the CID yet, we requested for a postponement in the hearing for taking permission to collect the blood samples of Bhaskar Shetty's mother and brother to August 24."
Bhaskar Shetty, who owned business establishments in Saudi Arabia and Udupi, went missing from his house here on July 28 and his mother Gulabi Shetty lodged a missing complaint at the Manipal police station on July 29. The police arrested his wife Rajeshwari (46) and son Navneet (24) on the charge of murdering Shetty and destroying evidence, here on August 7.
They arrested Niranjan Bhat (25), an archak who was close to Rajeshwari and Navneet, at Nitte on August 8 for allegedly disposing of Bhaskar Shetty's body after burning it in a Yagna Kunda room in his house at Nandalike village, about 25 km from here. He allegedly disposed of the body in a rivulet at Palli village, about 8 km from Nandalike. So far, the police have not recovered the body.
The police arrested two more accused, Srinivas Bhat, father of Niranjan Bhat, and Raghavendra, Niranjan's car driver, at Nandalike village on August 10 on the charge of destruction of evidence in the case.
The court of the Chief Judicial Magistrate on Tuesday remanded the three main accused, Rajeshwari, Navneet and Niranjan, in judicial custody till August 24.
