Mangaluru, Nov 9: Reacting to the landslide victory of Grand Alliance in Bihar Assembly polls, veteran Congress leader B Janardhan Poojary said that the Bihar elections result was a lesson not only for Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, but for all political parties and chief ministers of all states in the country.
Addressing a press conference at DK district Congress office here on Monday, he said that the people of Bihar state had given their mandate against the BJP in the Assembly elections as the party observed hatred, intolerance and evils such as untouchability. From the time of Emergency rule in the country, the biggest changes in the political scenario have occurred in Bihar. Even this time, Bihar paved the way for political mandate. It will be unfortunate if political parties do not take cognizance of this, he said.
Lambasting the BJP and Sangh Parivar over the rising intolerance in the country, he advised Narendra Modi to correct his mistakes if he had the nation’s best interests at heart.
Addressing the Prime Minister, he questioned Modi’s silence on the poisonous and inflammatory statements made by his cabinet ministers such as Giriraj Singh, Sakshi Maharaj, Mahesh Sharma and others, in the face of rising intolerance in the country.
“Could you not control such controversial ministers, or remove them from the party? Why are you still keeping mum when scientists, literary figures and actors have raised their voice in protest against intolerance? Is it wrong to want tolerance and peace in the society? If there should be development in the country, there should be peace first,” he stressed, warning Modi to set his mistakes right.
He further said, “Demanding a resignation is not the solution. But, sowing seeds of hatred will leave the country in flames. Democracy will collapse and dictatorship will prevail,” he said, warning the Sangh Parivar to heed the situation or face the perishment of BJP in the country.
