Mangalore, Apr 4: Members of Dakshina Kannada BJP unit met Superintendent of Police Dr Sharanappa on Saturday to hand over a memorandum, appealing to maintain law and order in the district.
The memorandum listed out the failures' of police department to protect the lives and properties of the people.
Cattle trafficking and slaughtering, robbery, rape, missing cases, crime against women and terror activities have increased in the region, they said in the memorandum.
They urged the SP to expedite the investigation relating to Deralakatte forced sex case, missing girls' case, false case against BJP leaders and vandalism of tollgate case.
They also accused the police of working at the behest of politicians.
BJP leaders including Sullia MLA S Angara, former Minister Krishna J Palemar, Yogish Bhat, Ganesh Karnik, Sulochana Bhat and others were present.
