Kannur, Sep 4: Communist Party of India (Marxist) general secretary Prakash Karat's recent statement here, praising the Kannur model' political activities of his party against the Sangh Parivar, is a pointer to the involvement of the CPI(M) national leadership in the murder of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) functionary E. Manoj at Kathirur on Monday, Bharatiya Janata Party former State president P.K. Krishnadas has said.
At a press conference here on Wednesday, Mr. Krishnadas said the BJP-RSS leadership would meet Chief Minister Oommen Chandy on September 4 to demand a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe into the murder, since it was “apparently hatched by top leaders of the CPI(M).”
A few days prior to Mr. Karat's visit, CPI(M) district secretary P. Jayarajan had also said that the visit of RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat's to the State was to create unrest. These comments were indication of a conspiracy behind the murder, Mr. Krishnadas said. Only a CBI investigation could unravel a conspiracy involving a national leader.
The BJP and the RSS would stage democratic and peaceful protests against the CPI(M)'s politics of murder, he said.
“Past experiences show that probe into political murders by local police or Crime Branch will not be effective,” he said. He demanded that the Facebook posting by Mr. Jayarajan's son, expressing jubilation over the murder of Manoj, be investigated.
