Mangaluru, Jun 22: Dozens of members of Dakshina Kannada district unit of Bharatiya Janata Party staged a demonstration in front of Mangaluru City Corporation in the city on Monday to register their protest against the delay in town hall renovation and untimely transfer of MCC Commissioners.
Sudhir Shetty, the Leader of Oppostion in MCC, who addressed the protesters, said that ever since Congress came to power in the civic body most of the development works were stalled due to inefficiency and dirty politics.
He said that within 15 months Congress rule in MCC, four Commissioners were transferred thanks to the internal politics of local Congress leaders. “The recent transfer of IAS officer Hepshiba Rani Koralpati was the result of dirty political game by Congress leaders,” he said.
He said that the stalling of Town Hall renovation work for more than 10 months has caused incontinences a lot of people, especially artistes who have no other suitable stages in the city for their performances.
“The Hall, which was closed on September 19 for renovation works, was supposed to reopen within December to mark its 50th anniversary. However, despite a series of protests the MCC administration has failed to complete the renovation work till today,” he lamented.
