Mangaluru, Sep 28: Police have arrested an alleged right wing activist for sending bomb hoax message on WhatsApp in Shivamogga.

It is said that he sent a WhatsApp message, “Five bombs have been placed in Shivamogga bus terminal. Police have detected two and one has been arrested in this regard. The remaining three bomb would explode on September 23 at 7 am.”
The message was shared among various WhatsApp groups. The police were alerted and they found that it was hoax message. It is said that he had received the message from his colleague in Mangaluru.
In the original message, the location was Mangaluru. But in order to create panic, the accused allegedly changed the place name to Shivamogga and sent the modified message on WhatsApp. He has been remanded to judicial custody, police added.
No arrest in Mangaluru
Prior to the arrest of one of the accused in Shivamogga, the original version of the same WhatsApp message had triggered panic in Mangaluru. However, no arrest has been made in connection with the incident.
The sleuths of Mangaluru city police and KSRTC security personnel had frantically searched for a long time last week at the bus stand following the terror message went viral.
Without letting passengers know what they were up to, the personnel searched nooks and corners of the bus terminus from where several services depart to places like Bengaluru, Mumbai, Belagavi, and Hubballi, etc.
However, later they realised that they were fooled by the miscreants and the messages turned out to be hoax.
