Mangaluru, Aug 11: An 18-year-old boy from Munnoor village near Ulllal who was reduced to a vegetative state after suffering from a serious head injury three years ago, was admitted to NIMHANS in Bengaluru by health minister U T Khader on Sunday for better treatment.

Ever since the accident, Puneeth was reduced to a vegetative state and was fed intravenously through a tube for the past three years. Having lost her husband who was the breadwinner of the family, Puneeth's mother Jayanthi was unable to provide him with necessary treatment as it was hard to make ends meet.
Having learnt of the condition of Puneeth, an Ayurveda doctor in Ullal Damodar had been providing him free treatment. However, the Ayurvedic treatment needed a long time to show positive results with regard to Puneeth. With media outlets publishing the story of Puneeth and his pitiable condition, several non-governmental organisations had come forward to offer financial support to his family for his treatment.
