Mangalore, Oct 20: A controversial Hindu seer, who had attempted suicide by pouring kerosene on himself earlier this year in protest against a Christian preacher, now œordered Supreme Court of India to immediately cancel the bail granted to an ailing Muslim political leader.

Pranavananda Swami, he chief of a lesser-known outfit called Bharat Kranti Sena, addressing a press meet in the city on Monday accused Karnataka's Assistant Public Prosecutor of failing to convince the apex court not to grant bail to People's Democratic Party chief Abdul Nasser Madani.

Madani was on July 11 granted one-month bail on medical grounds by the apex court which took note that he was an under-trial prisoner and had already been behind the bars for the last four years and was suffering from various ailments, including diabetes.

Stating that the people of Karnataka and Kerala would not tolerate their government providing royal treatment to an accused in serial bomb blast case, Swami said Madani should rather be sent to Tihar jail.

Accusing chief minister Siddaramaiah led state government of indulging in unwarranted minority appeasement, he questioned the necessity of providing a monthly honorarium of Rs. 3,100 and Rs. 2,500 to Pesh Imams and Mouzins, respectively. He went on to criticize BJP led union government for earmarking Rs.100 crore to Madrasas in budget. œThere is no contribution from Madrasas to the nation, he groused.
