Mangaluru, Apr 11: RSS veteran Kalladka Prabhakar Bhat, who recently delivered an inflammatory speech under the limits of Konaje police station, is now facing the ire of Nalike community for allegedly disrespecting ‘Bhootaradhane’. Nalike community is known for performing Bhoota Koala in coastal Karnataka.

Members of Nalike Samaja Seva Sangha on Tuesday lodged a caste abuse complaint with Belthangady police station for Mr Bhat’s alleged remarks against Tulu Nadu’s traditional spirit worship.
“Prabhakar Bhat, in his recent controversial speech during a hunger strike against cattle theft at Amrutadhara Gaushala at Kairangala village, had questioned the very existence of ‘Bhootaradhane’. He also said that those performing Bhoota kola and related traditions have no sense,” the complainants said.
A senior police officer said on condition of anonymity that the police are taking legal advice on whether to file an FIR or not.
Last Sunday, Konaje police had registered a case against Prabhakar Bhat under Section 153 (A) (promoting enmity between groups on grounds of religion, race, etc.) of the Indian Penal Code and Section 125 (promoting enmity between classes in connection with election) of the Representation of the People Act 1951 in connection with the same speech, wherein he also had slammed temple managements for allowing Muslims to enter the temples.
