Mangaluru, Sept 25: Prominent Kannada writer and former English professor Chandrashekara Patil will preside over the 83rd Akhila Bharata Kannada Sahitya Sammelana. The annual literary fest will be held this year in Mysuru from November 24 to 26.
Popularly called as Champa, he is the foremost voices of the Bandaya Movement. He had also served as chairman of Kannada Development Authority. He had returned the State government’s highest literary honour Pampa Award protesting against the killing of scholar M.M. Kalburgi two years ago.
Manu Baligar, president of Kannada Sahitya Parishat (KSP), told media persons here that the executive committee meeting of the KSP on Monday morning unanimously selected the 78-year-old thinker as the president of the three-day event.
He said that the names of writers Veena Shanteshwara, Sara Aboobakkar, Latha Rajashekar and N.R. Nayak were also proposed to chair the sammelana. Finally the committee selected Champa.
