Mangalore, Mar 24: A section of people in Ullal, which witnessed inter-community clashes recently, have decided not to cast their votes in the Lok Sabha election, saying they have lost faith in political leaders.
The group led by Kody Badriya Jumma Masjid president Muhammad Ashraf, Secretary Abdullatif, former President Muhammad Haji, Darga Committee members Rafeeque, Basheer, U K Muhammad and others gathered on Sunday at Ullal Kody addressed the residents of second and fifth wards of Ullal regarding the issue.
They said “They (police) barged into the houses in Kodi vicinity of Ullal in the midnightand assaulted the family members including women and children. Youths were booked under Article 370 of Indian Penal Code. Not a single politician came forward to release them. We will teach them a lesson by refraining from voting in the election.”
