Mysuru, Aug 8: Mysuru MP Pratap Simha has urged Chief Minister Siddaramaiah to invite controversial novelist and Hindutva advocate SL Bhyrappa to inaugurate this year’s Dasara festivities atop Chamundi Hills.
The meeting takes major decisions pertaining to the conduct of the festivities. Last year, Jnanpith awardee Girish Karnad inaugurated the festivities. In a letter to the Chief Minister, Mr. Simha reminded that he had suggested Prof. Bhyrappa’s name for inaugurating the festivities during last year’s meeting.
“You had replied to my suggestion as next time. Even your party MLAs Tanveer Sait and Vasu had expressed similar views. As Dasara is approaching, I would like to bring this to your notice,” the MP said in the letter.
Mr. Simha, who is the member of the Dasara committee, said he cannot participate in the August 10th meeting in view of Parliament session.
Mr. Simha said he would like to put forth his appeal once again for inviting Prof. Bhyrappa for the festivities and expressed hope that his suggestion would be considered.
