Bengaluru, Jul 16: BJP?State president Pralhad Joshi has accused Chief Minister Siddaramaiah of preventing Congress leader Rahul Gandhi from visiting the families of farmers who had committed suicide in the State.

‘Sent back’
But the chief minister sent him back because the visit would have embarrassed his government, he said. “A?dog should wag its tail and not the other way. Similarly, a leader should not dictate terms to the party,” Joshi said.
Joshi said Rahul Gandhi had been interacting with farmers in many states. His plans to visit Karnataka were scuttled by Siddaramaiah.
Nearly 80 farmers have committed suicide in the State. On an average, five farmers had been dying in the State in the recent weeks. But the government seems to be not bothered about the farmers’ plight and their deaths, he said.
He said Rahul should visit Karnataka to see for himself how his party government was performing. He said he would consider writing to Rahul in this regard.
Sources in the Congress said Chella Kumar had planned to visit Mandya on July 13. He met the chief minister and State Congress president G Parameshwara and later cancelled his visit.
It is said the chief minister and the State Congress president wanted AICC general secretary Digvijaya Singh, in charge of Karnataka, to request Rahul to visit some districts to understand the ground reality. However, so far, there is no confirmation whether Rahul has agreed to be here, sources said.
Joshi announced that the BJP had formed six groups comprising his party leaders to visit district headquarters on July 18 and 19 to interact with farmers and understand their problems.
