Belthangady, Apr 14: Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has said that police should not tolerate moral policing and take stringent action against miscreants involved in assaulting inter-faith couples.
Addressing media persons here on Sunday, Siddaramaiah said that the government was also considering invoking Goonda Act against habitual offenders.
Responding to a query of media persons about delay in taking action against RSS leader Kalladka Prabhakar Bhat, who is accused of promoting communal hatred in the society through speeches, the CM said necessary action would be taken after ensuing Lok Sabha polls.
“It will be considered after elections,” he said.
The chief minister also assured Belthangady MLA Vasant Bangera of more funds for his constituency. When Mr. Bangera asked Mr. Siddaramaiah to tell it to audience, Mr. Siddaramaiah said, “You have to understand that I cannot make any assurances now. But I am with you,” he said.
