Dr Zakir Naik to address Mangalureans on Jan 3; people of all faiths invited

Mangaluru, Dec 3: Dr Zakir Naik, an internationally acclaimed Islamic orator and the founder of Mumbai-based Islamic Research Foundation, will be addressing the people of Mangaluru on January 3, 2016.

The South Karnataka Salafi Movement (SKSM), which is hosting Dr Naik’s event in Mangaluru on Wednesday held a preparatory meet at Jamiyyatul Falah auditorium.

Presiding over the meeting, B Ramanath Rai, the district in-charge minister of Dakshina Kannada, said that organisers should invite people from all the religions and communities to the scheduled programme as Dr Naik is an “authority on comparative religion.”

He said that the government would take necessary steps for the smooth conduct of the event, aimed at promoting interfaith understanding.

Speaking on the occasion, Mohiuddin Bava, Mangaluru North MLA, said that the second visit of Dr Naik to this coastal city after two decades is a great opportunity for the people of all the communities and religions to unite and nullify their misconceptions.

SKSM DK district president UM Razzak, Muslim Central Committee president KS Mohammed Masood, United Muslim Organisation president K Ashraf, Jamaathe Islami Hind Mangaluru president Mohammed Kunhi, Jamiyyatul Falah Udupi-DK president Abdul Latheef, Unity Health Complex chairman Dr CP Habeeb Rahman, Hidaya Foundation founder Khasim, Beary Academy president B Mohammed Haneef were present among others.

Shahul Hameed KK welcomed and compered the programme. MUDA chairman Ibrahim Kodichal delivered introductory remarks.
