SDPI fails to make a dent in Dakshina Kannada; helps BJP win a ZP seat

Mangaluru, Feb 23: Social Democratic Party of India, which had fielded a handful of candidates in Muslim dominant areas of Dakshina Kannada in just concluded panchayat polls, failed to open its account in Zilla and Taluk panchayats in the district.

asdpi
With this the second bid by the political arm of Popular Front of India to enter ZP and TPs proved to be futile in the coastal Karnataka, which has a considerable number of Muslim voters. In fact the party's performance brought back memories of last assembly elections wherein it had tried to defeat Muslim candidates fielded by the Congress in Dakshina Kannada.

SDPI had managed to win one seat in Mangaluru City Corporation in 2013. Moreover, of the 272 candidates fielded by SDPI in 2015 gram panchayat polls in Dakshina Kannada, around 45 candidates had won.

Buoyed by these successes, the 7-year-old party had left no stone unturned to grab a portion of Congress vote bank and make a dent in the recent elections in the coastal district.

As expected the presence of SDPI candidate Riyaz in fray in Pudu ZP constituency, helped the BJP candidate Ravindra Kambali to defeat Congress candidate and social activist Umar Farooq with a margin of 1632 votes. Mr Kambali bagged 8,553 votes while Mr Farooq secured 6921 votes. SDPI candidate bagged 4167 votes.

The Pudu ZP seat (Bantwal taluk), which falls under Mangaluru Assembly constituency represented by health minister UT Khader, was so far known as a bastion of Congress party.

However, BJP Minority Morcha leader Rahim Uchil and SDPI district president Haneef Khan Kodaje have rubbished the claim that SDPI indirectly helped BJP. They both claimed that the Congress continued to fool the minorities by pointing fingers at other parties for their failure in coastal Karnataka.

In politics all parties are same. Just wants to win election by fooling innocent voters, Because voters have no choice and they are like punching bags. political parties use all their weapons against each other. In one side bjp abuse sdpi but in other end they makes plan and execute it together against the major opposition. One who plays and execute the trick smartly in politics is going to be the winner. Muslims voters should be careful while voting. Muslims should choose able candidate and vote for him. Should not be worried for the party.

SDPI Votes increasing rapidly
In 2013 - ULB Election 4%
2013 – MLA Election 6%
2015 – Grama Panchayath election 9%
2016 – ZP and TP Election 15%

Nearly 15% voted for SDPI

BJP has taken 9 year to reach 15%, Congress took 14 years to reach 15%
Alhamdulliha within 7 Years SDPI taken 15% votes

But why Muslims are voting against congress??? And why Muslims should vote for Congress??? this is the million dollar question??
Though we have many ministers , MLA & MLC from congress could not protect minorities from the goondagiri of Sangha Pariwar. Bajranga Dal is deciding who will come to Mangalore (Eg. Jakir Naik issue) One way this government's inaction to curb violence of Sanga Pariwar made minorities to lose their faith on Congress. It was seen by everyone in this district that these goons closed cinema halls, Muslim boys were beaten, made naked, in the name of cow many Muslims were beaten, etc. etc. but these ministers and MLA’s to keep the majority happy ,,,, nothing has done to curb these goons.

These are the reason Muslim wants to against congress, A known enemy is better than the friend who always stabs behind.

SDPI which fielded its candidates at only 3 ZP constituencies and succeeded in securing 9% votes.
The performance of this party at Pudu was really amazing as the 1st time contestant Riyaz Farangipete secured 22.06% votes, Congress got 36.65% whereas BJP won by securing 40% votes.

The Taluk Panchayat results, where SDPI fielded its candidates at 18 places across DK and succeeded in securing 17.23% of votes.
In Bajpe, SDPi candidate Shahnaz lost to her nearest BJP candidate by a margin of merely 280 votes. Here the congress got 1073. In fact, the congress's candidature helped BJP to win the election. Irony is that, at nearby Jokatte constituency, both Congress and BJP party workers were seen together in the victory celebration. By looking the photos and video of the way they celebrated the victory, The minority community must have decided whom to vote during the next election.

There is a saying

'' A Stone is broken by the last stroke of the hammer, this doesn't mean that the first stroke is useless. success is the result of continuous effort''

So the Congress is already a broken mud brick........will vanish after few years .....SDPI will be victorious .....BJP will be a next target

The election was free and fair. It seems Congress Party which has been contesting the election since independence doesn't like to accept the defeat. Or the writer must be thinking against the constitution which allows any person/party whether new or old to contest the election. And the voter have the right to vote for any candidate. If the voter doesn't like any of the candidate contested, then he/she may vote for NOTA.
Now, let's look at the 7 year old political party SDPI which fielded its candidates at only 3 ZP constituencies and succeeded in securing 9% votes.
The performance of this party at Pudu was really amazing as the 1st time contestant Riyaz Farangipete secured 22.06% votes, Congress got 36.65% whereas BJP won by securing 40% votes.
This brought a new hope to this new party.
If we look deep into the Taluk Panchayat results, where SDPI fielded its candidates at 18 places across DK and succeeded in securing 17.23% of votes.
In Bajpe, SDPi candidate Shahnaz lost to her nearest BJP candidate by a margin of merely 280 votes. Here the congress got 1073. In fact, the congress's candidature helped BJP to win the election. I do agree that SDPI is spoiling the secular or muslim votes.
It has been benefitting BJP. BJP is always happy whenever SDPI candidates stand infront of congress/bjp.

But why muslims are voting against congress??? this is the million dollar question??
Though we have many ministers , mla, mlc from congress could not protect minorities from the goondagiri of Sangha Pariwar. One way this government's inaction to curb violence of Sanga Pariwar made minorities to loose their faith on Congress. It was seen by everyone in this district that these goons entered church, beat the nurse, priest , innocent people , destroyed church and even the statue of jesus .... though the culprits are roaming freely without any action. Muslim boys were beaten, made naked, in the name of cow many muslims were beaten, etc. etc. but these ministers and mla's to keep the majority happy ,,,, nothing has done to curb these goons.
Prabhaker bhat and his some of the Sangha pariwar openly threatened and mocked muslim community and twice fir has been put against him.... but no body has the right to touch him.
this is the weakness of our district leaders. Mr. Ramanath Rai during his election keep on telling that this is the election between me and Bhatta.... I will arrest him when I won the election.... But even after becoming minister .. he is mum.

These are the reason muslim wants to against congress even though they don't mind bjp's win. A known enemy is better than
the the friend who always stabs behind.

Dear SDPI fools!
I am one of the millions of Indians who were disappointed by Congress. But I am not among those uneducated and senseless fools who worsen the woes of Muslim community through petty politics.

One of the beauty of politics in India is that all secular and non communal parties create miracles within a short period after formation. For example: Congress, AAP, Janata Dal.

Dear Fools
There is a major similarity between BJP and SDPI. Both depend on less educated people. Both faced defeats in their initial stage. But BJP strengthened itself by taking up mandir-masjid issue and spreading hatred. But SDPI can’t do that. You know why? Indian Muslims are not fools. They cannot be fooled in the name of Mandir-Masjid.

Dear Fools
We don’t blame any major secular parties for division secular of votes. We blame only those whose intention is to satisfy their unholy desires by defeating others. SDPI is a cancer in Muslim society. We need to remove it to protect Muslim society.

Mangaluru, Nov 28: Karnataka Health Minister and Dakshina Kannada district in-charge minister Dinesh Gundu Rao on Friday handed over Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, highlighting the severe distress faced by farmers due to crashing crop prices.

PM Modi arrived at the Mangaluru International Airport en route to Udupi, where Gundu Rao welcomed him and submitted the letter. The chief minister’s message stressed that farmers are suffering heavy losses because maize and green gram are being bought far below the Minimum Support Price (MSP). The state urged the Centre to immediately begin procurement at MSP.

According to the letter, Karnataka has a bumper harvest this year—over 54.74 lakh metric tons of maize and 1.98 lakh metric tons of green gram—yet farmers are unable to secure fair prices. Against the MSP of ₹2,400/MT for maize and ₹8,768/MT for green gram, market rates have plunged to ₹1,600–₹1,800 and ₹5,400 respectively.

The chief minister has requested the Centre to:

• Direct NAFED, FCI and NCCF to start MSP procurement immediately.
• Ensure ethanol units purchase maize directly from farmers or FPOs.
• Increase Karnataka’s ethanol allocation, citing high production capacity.
• Stop maize imports, which have depressed domestic prices.
• Relax quality norms for green gram, allowing up to 10% discoloration due to rains.

The letter stresses that MSP is crucial for farmer dignity and income stability and calls for swift central intervention to prevent a deepening crisis.

roadshow.jpg

Udupi district transformed into a sea of saffron and celebration on Friday, November 28, as Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s roadshow swept through the coastal temple town. Thousands of residents lined the streets, turning the event into a vibrant public spectacle filled with cheers, flags, and festive energy.

The procession route—from the helipad to the historic Sri Krishna Math—was decked with buntings, saffron flags, and multilayered security barricades. One of the district’s largest-ever security deployments was put in place for the high-profile visit, with over 3,000 police personnel on duty. The arrangement included ten SPs, 27 DSPs, 49 inspectors, 127 sub-inspectors, 232 assistant sub-inspectors, 1,608 constables, and 39 women staff.

Six platoons of the Karnataka State Reserve Police, six Quick Response Teams, bomb detection units, and dog squads were stationed across Udupi. Enhanced surveillance covered Adi Udupi, Bannanje bus stand, and the Sri Krishna Math parking zone, with combing operations carried out along the roadshow corridor.

At the 800-year-old Sri Krishna Math, preparations reached a ceremonial peak. Paryaya Puttige Math seer Sugunendra Teertha Swamiji said the Prime Minister would take part in the Laksha Kantha Geetha Parayana, a mass chanting of the Bhagavad Gita by one lakh devotees, and inaugurate the new Suvarna Teertha Mantapa.

“He will first offer floral tributes to saint-poet Kanakadasa and then unveil the golden covering over the Kanakana Kindi,” the seer said.

The Prime Minister will also receive a Poorna Kumbha welcome and have darshan of Lord Sri Krishna, Mukhyaprana Devaru, and the Suvarna Paduke. Union Minister Pralhad Joshi, Karnataka Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot, Minister Bairathi Suresh, Dharmadhikari D. Veerendra Heggade, and seers from the Ashta Maths are expected to join the ceremony.

Ahead of his arrival, the Prime Minister posted on X that he felt “honoured” to attend the spiritually significant gathering. “This is a special occasion that brings together people from different sections of society for a recital of the Gita. This Matha has a very special significance in our cultural life,” he wrote, noting the institution’s long-standing legacy rooted in the teachings of Sri Madhvacharya.
