Uppinangady, Apr 2: Once again a bullet tanker carrying liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) overturned at Perne near Uppinangady on the Mangaluru-Bengaluru National Highway, 47 km from here, on Saturday.

As part of precautionary measures police have temporarily blocked the NH 75 at Perne after a minor leakage from the ill-fated tanker triggered a fire.
All vehicles are currently moving through Shantimarga, Karvelu, Dorme, Mathantabettu, Sediyapu route.
Sources said that the fire fighters managed to douse the fire immediately and trying to control the leak. The Fire and Emergency Services personnel constantly poured water over the tanker four hours.
It could be recalled here that a similar gas tanker tragedy in Perne village had claimed lives of nearly a dozen people in April 2013. The gas leakage had fuelled an inferno engulfing the vehicle and neighbouring houses. More details are awaited.
