Bengaluru, Jun 23: BJP leader and former MLA of Mudigere constituency came under fire after the Karnataka State Women's Commission took up a suo motu case against him for assaulting his wife publicly at Legislators' Home (LH) here on Thursday.

The accused M.P. Kumaraswamy assaulted his wife Savitha and hurled abuses at her after she came in search of him and created a ruckus at LH. Commission chairperson Manjula Manasa confirmed that a case has been taken up and said the couple would be called in for enquiries.

Savitha accused Kumaraswamy of not visiting their house since January. It is said that he has been staying at LH since then.

Kumaraswamy was accused of having an affair with a woman in Hassan. A telephone conversation between Kumaraswamy and his girlfriend was later circulated. Kumaraswamy accused his wife of circulating the recorded conversation.

Savitha said that the couple lived peacefully until he was caught having an affair. Frustrated, he reportedly left their home in a huff and refused to maintain channels of communication with Savitha.

On Thursday, Savitha, who was accompanied by her mother, aunt and sister, walked into the LH and confronted him. Heated arguments ensued, following which Kumaraswamy hurled abuses at her and assaulted her.

Savitha still loves Kumaraswamy!

The LH outpost police rushed to the spot and took the couple for enquiries. However, Savitha refused to file a case against Kumaraswamy and urged the police to unite her with him. The police asked her to approach the women's helpline at the Police Commissioner's office for counselling.

Coming out of the police station, Savita told reporters "he beat me up inside the police station in front of police. I came here to ask him about his activities. I came to request him to come back home and lead a life with me."

She said she was not filing any complaint as it was a family matter. "He left home on January 1...he has not come back yet. I want him back, I want him to leave that woman and lead a life with me," she added.

Savita said he had left home after she questioned him about an audio recording of him talking to another woman.

Savita, who later also met City Police Chief Megharikh, said she was still undecided about filing any complaint against her husband and wanted to talk to him first.

In his defence, Kumaraswamy said, "It is a family dispute, we will sort it out." Asked why he had not gone home for six months, he alleged that she (Savita) had not come to him for eight years.

He termed as false her charges that he had beaten her up and said he would not go with her.

Mangaluru, Dec 2: Mangaluru International Airport responded to a medical emergency late on Monday night. Air India Express flight IX 522, travelling from Riyadh to Thiruvananthapuram, was diverted to Mangaluru Airport after a passenger in his late 30s experienced a medical emergency on board.

The Airport’s Operations Control Centre received an alert regarding the passenger’s health condition. The airport activated its emergency response protocol, mobilising the airport medical team and coordinating with stakeholders including CISF, immigration, and customs.

Upon landing, airport medical personnel attended to the passenger, assessed his condition, and arranged to shift him to a local tertiary-care hospital for further treatment. The passenger’s relatives accompanied the passenger, who incidentally received necessary medical care on board, which helped stabilise the situation.

Following the handling of the emergency, the flight departed for Thiruvananthapuram at 2:05 am on Tuesday.

"We appreciate the cooperation of all parties involved, and this incident reaffirms our ongoing commitment to prioritising passenger safety and readiness to respond to unforeseen emergencies with professionalism and care," the Airport spokesperson said.
