Mangaluru youth arrested in Udupi with 170 kg of beef, associate escapes

Udupi, Sep 1: A youth from Manglauru taluk has been arrested by the police near a check-post under the limits of Kota police station in Udupi district while transporting beef in a van.

The arrested has been identified as Imtiyaz (28), a resident of Surathkal. The police have seized the van along with 170 kg of beef, Rs. 1,640 in cash and a mobile telephone from the Imtiyaz.

According to the Kota police, a person was driving the van from Udupi to Kundapur on Wednesday morning and when he was asked to stop at the check-post at Thekkatte, he sped away. The Home Guard at the check-post later informed the police, who managed to stop the van near Kannukere Hall.

There were two people on board the tempo. While the police managed to catch one person the other one ran away. According to the arrested youth, the one who fled the scene is Falulludin from Kulai. The police then searched the van and found beef. Later, a veterinarian certified it, the police said.

A case has been registered under Sections 4, 5, 11 of the Prevention of Cow Slaughter and Cattle Preservation Act and Sections 279 and 427 of Indian Penal Code and Section 134 (A) of Indian Motor Vehicle Act, the police said. Investigation is on, the police added.

Beef sukka or curry is good, that goes nicely with chapati...police are going have a nice day.....good luck guys....
