Committee to screen poll campaign content in media

Mangalore, Feb 15: As per the directive of the State Election Commission, a Committee has been formed to keep a vigil on the contents of election campaign in print and electronic media by political parties or candidates.

Dakshina Kannada Deputy Commissioner N Prakash said that prior to publishing any advertisement or content pertaining to election campaign by candidates or political parties in newspapers, TV channels or web media, approval has to be obtained from the Committee.

The Committee is presided over by the Deputy Commissioner himself. Other members who are part of the Committee include Mangalore Police Commissioner, Superintendent of Police, DK, Additional Deputy Commissioner, DK, Assistant Commissioners of Mangalore and Puttur, District Information Officer and Mangalore Tahshildar.
