Mangaluru, Oct 19: A tense atmosphere prevailed at Chitrapura near Baikampady on Monday night following a violent clash between youths belonging to two different communities over a trivial reason.

At least five persons have sustained injuries in the clash. Among them three persons identified as Altaf, Ajmal and Shamsuddin have been admitted to hospital in Mangaluru. Two others identified as Pushparaj and Bharath have been admitted to a hospital in Surtakal.
According to sources close friendship between a few girls belonging to two different communities, who were meeting each other at a shop belonging to one community, led to the clashes.
Two girls belonging to one community were frequently visit the shop in Chitrapura, where their friends were working. Among them one girl belonged to another community. Meanwhile, rumours also began to spread that the shop owner also used talk to girls.
A few local youth on Monday evening went to the shop and allegedly raised objection to the behavior of the shop owner. This led to a clash between two groups.
Sleuths from Panambur police station had to intervene to bring the situation under control. Even though people belonging to both community were injured in the clash former minister Krishna J Palemar preferred to visit only Hindu youths.
