Mangaluru, Dec 11: In the backdrop of communal unrest arising among people from different communities in Ulaibettu and other areas, Mangaluru North MLA Moidin Bava appealed to citizens not to heed false rumours spread by rumour-mongers with the intention of escalating the situation further.
Briefing media persons at a press conference here on Thursday, he said that in view of the unabated untoward incidents in his constituency, chief minister Siddaramaiah had assured him of increasing the strength of the police department in the district. The CM has assured an additional 15 police teams along with a rapid action force.
Calling people from his constituency to maintain harmony, he said that miscreants from any religious organisations trying to disrupt peace and create tension among communities would be arrested and strict action would be taken against them. The police have been directed to undertake a detailed probe in this regard and also tackle rumours spread mainly through the social media.
"I am pained by the attacks on innocent victims and incidents of stabbing by unknown culprits. The cooperation of all the people in the community is required for restore the communal harmony in the region," he appealed through the media.
