Basking over his victory, Mangalore City South MLA J R Lobo, answering the reporters had said that his victory was against the moral police and his aim is to try and prevent such incidents in future.
It is well noted that though such incidents did happen during the BJP rule and incidents like the Church attack and the homestay attack grabbed international attention, the instances of moral policing and cattle guarding were more during the Congress led government. Gory incident had unfurled over the cattle trade before the BJP came to power and when the BJP government came to power such incidents had surprisingly come down but it was not rooted out completely.
It is said that if informers called the Sangh Parivar members to inform about the cattle trade, they used to get reply saying that their hands are tied as it is their own party in power. Now that their government is not in power, hunt of cattle traders will gain momentum.
Transporting cattle in a rather inhuman way is wrong. But, the people who tolerated the same during the BJP rule are back in action to stand up for the animal rights. Is that not equally a crime?
Why this double standard? Unleashing havoc and creating communal drift to bring the BJP back to power can be the only motive behind such acts, to which people fall prey.
The challenge before the Congress government is to not just track down such menace creators but to avert such incidents from occurring.
