
Addressing a press conference here on Wednesday, he said that the party workers had found instances of fake voters having been enrolled in the voter 's list in bordering areas such as Arlapadavu, Eshwarmangala, Galimukha and Sulliapadavu in Sullia taluk. This is a serious offence and amounts to violation of election code of conduct. This has been brought to the notice of Election Commission and district election officer for further investigation, he said.
He said that in a particular case, over twenty fake voters having been registered under the same address in one of the areas in Sullia in the district and urged the district administration to take appropriate action in this regard.
“The police scrutiny also should be strengthened at border checkposts to avoid residents from Kerala coming into the district to exercise their votes in this constituency,” he said.
Refuting the statement of BJP leader Rumaiah Poojary that he had solely contributed to the welfare of Billavas in the district, Mr D 'Souza said that it was the Congress who had contributed to the Billava community.
Pointing that the BJP had not given opportunity to Billava candidates to contest in Lok Sabha elections to represent the district as MPs, he said, “If the BJP has indeed contributed to their welfare, let them engage with us in an open discussion.”
