Mangalore, Feb 9: Two days after Pajawar mutt pontiff Visweswara Theertha Swamiji's failed bid to enter Ullal amidst prohibitory orders, police have prevented Mangalore MP Nalin Kumar Kateel from entering the sensitive town.

It is learnt that Mr Kateel, after attending parliamentary session in New Delhi, directly moved towards Ullal without informing the police. MLC Monappa Bhandary and a group of BJP workers also had accompanied him.
When the Deputy Commissioner of Police and Assistant Commissioner of Police noticed the MP convoy moving towards Ullal, the formers stopped him near Thokkottu.
This led to a heated exchange of words between the police and the BJP men accompanying the MP. The police requested Mr Kateel to ask the permission of Commissioner of Police R Hithendra before entering Ullal.
Mr Kateel called the Mr Hithendra, the latter justified the police's move and asked former to stay away from Ullal till the prohibitory orders were completely lifted. The MP had to take a U-turn from Thokkottu.
