Mangalore, Jan 17: Several activists of Communist Party of India (Marxist) staged a protest in front of the Deputy Commissioner's office here on Thursday, demanding stern action against the perpetrators of Deralakatte kidnap, forced sex and blackmail case. They also demanded the arrest of RSS leader Prabhakar Bhat Kalladka for his alleged vulgar and provocative statements aimed at creating a rift between communities.
Addressing the protesters G V Srirama Reddy, state secretary of CPI (M) said that the eight accused responsible for the heinous crime should be charged with rape and booked under Goonda Act. This occurred after the congress government came in to power in state. Both Hindu and Muslim fundamentalists have crossed their limits in the region, he alleged.
Urging the police department to arrest Dr Prabhakar Bhat for his recent provocative speech at Hindu Sangama, he said that Congress and BJP are the two faces of the same coin. Both the parties are eying on upcoming parliament polls. Congress is scared of losing its voters in case of arrest of a Hindu leader. That is the reason Congress government is not directing the police department to arrest Dr Bhat, he alleged.
Lashing out at state government for increased crime rate in undivided Dakshina Kannada, he said that criminals are taking advantage of the state government's policies including minority appeasement.
Voters in state showed their opposition towards communal political party by voting congress. But congress has not fulfilled its promises. Congress is still with the communal party, he alleged.
