Lucknow, July 22: A minor girl in Uttar Pradesh’s Deoria district was murdered by her grandfather and two uncles, reportedly after she flared up in opposition to their ‘no jeans’ diktat.

The crime occurred on Monday but came to light on Tuesday when passersby saw the 17-year-old victim’s body hanging from the grille of Patanwa bridge on Kasya-Patna highway. The passersby alerted the police who then started investigations leading to the arrest of the victim’s grandfather, identified Paramhans Paswan, a hardline Hindu. Her uncles -- Vyas Paswan and Arvind Paswan -- are at large.

Police said the now-deceased teenager’s father is employed in Punjab’s Ludhiana. She started wearing western dresses after she, along with her family, moved to Ludhiana. Later, she and her mother, Shakuntala, returned to their village in Deoria’s Mahuadeeh area. Elders here demanded that the teenager switch to Hindu wear. She, however, didn’t pay heed to their demands and used to stay out for long hours, according to a report.

“On Monday, Arvind asked Shakuntala to stop her daughter from wearing western clothes and staying outside for long. Oram has also supported Arvind. In the meantime, the girl returned home and overheard the conversation. The issue snowballed when the girl opposed the diktat and allegedly slapped Arvind. Irked over this, Arvind, his wife, and brother (Vyas) pushed the girl in a fit of rage. She hit against the wall and slumped on the ground, bleeding profusely,” Deoria SP Shripati Mishra said.

After the teenager died, the accused hired an auto-rickshaw to take her body to the Patanwa bridge. The accused threw the body from the bridge. The body, however, got stuck in the bridge’s grille and passersby spotted it. Thereafter, the police were alerted and an investigation was taken up.

The SP stated that the girl’s grandfather and the auto-rickshaw driver have been arrested, adding that efforts were being made to apprehend her two uncles.

This comes months after a few Bajrang Dal members from Mangaluru in Karnataka were arrested in connection with a case of purported ‘moral policing’ after they allegedly attacked an inter-faith couple on a city bus.

BARBARIC CRIME IN UP INDIA: To protect the future of the children of UP, those accused of such crimes are to be prosecuted in the " Fast Track Court". The entire court process is not to exceed more than six months. UP has become the Kingdom of barbaric crime and the International Community of Nations are dismayed.

New Delhi: The Aam Aadmi Party on Saturday alleged that Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal is being pushed towards a “slow death” inside Tihar jail by denying him insulin and consultations with his doctor.

Kejriwal, who has Type-2 diabetes, has been asking for insulin and a video conferencing with his family doctor but his requests are being denied by the jail administration, party spokesperson Saurabh Bharadwaj said in a press conference.

"I want to say with full responsibility that a conspiracy is underway for the slow death of Kejriwal," Bharadwaj claimed citing blood sugar readings of the Chief Minister in jail.

He also slammed the Tihar administration, BJP, Centre and Delhi LG for allegedly denying insulin to Kejriwal and said the Delhi Chief Minister had been suffering from diabetes for the last 20-22 years.

On Friday, the chief minister council Senior advocate Abhishek Singhvi said Kejriwal has not been administered insulin to control his sugar levels since his arrest, terming it “shocking” and “alarming”.

The ED had on Thursday claimed before the court that Kejriwal was eating food high in sugar like mangoes and sweets every day, despite having Type-2 diabetes, to create grounds for medical bail.

Kejriwal, however, refuted the ED’s claims by asserting before a court that the food he consumed was in conformity with the diet chart prepared by his doctor.

“Out of 48 meals sent from home, only three times mangoes were there…,” Singhvi told the court.

Bharadwaj said Kejriwal was allowed by the court to use a machine in the jail to monitor his daily blood sugar levels.

"Overall, it was a conspiracy to finish Kejriwal so his multiple organ damage and when he comes out of jail after 2-4 months he goes for treatment of kidney, heart and other organs," said Bharadwaj, who holds the portfolio of health in Delhi government.

Hassan MP and Lok Sabha election candidate of the BJP-JD(S) alliance Prajwal Revanna, who is facing an inquiry over the alleged sexual abuse of several women, said the truth will prevail.

The MP, who left the country as soon as the election to his constituency ended, has also sought seven days' time to appear before the Special Investigation Team (SIT) formed by the Karnataka government to inquire into the huge cache of about 3,000 explicit videos and photos allegedly pertaining to him, which have gone viral on social media.

“As I am not in Bangalore to attend the enquiry, I have communicated to CID Bangalore through my advocate. Truth will prevail soon,” Prajwal, grandson of former prime minister and JD(S) patriarch H D Deve Gowda, said in a post on X.

A case has been registered against MLA and former minister H D Revanna and his son Prajwal at Holenarasipura on a complaint lodged by their former cook and relative for allegedly sexually harassing her.

She also alleged that Prajwal made video calls to her daughter and spoke in an objectionable manner, which forced her to block him.

The MP who is seeking re-election from Hassan on a JD(S) ticket, shared a letter by his lawyer Arun G to the Deputy Superintendent of Police of the SIT, in which he has sought seven days' time to appear before the official because he is abroad.

Guwahati: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Tuesday condemned the alleged sexual abuse of women involving Lok Sabha MP Prajwal Revanna, asserting that the BJP will not tolerate any insult to women.

Revanna (33) is the BJP-JD(S) alliance candidate for Hassan Lok Sabha constituency, which went to polls on April 26.

Earlier in the day, the JD(S) suspended Revanna from the party with immediate effect.

“The issue regarding Revanna that has been reported in the media is very hurtful and cannot be tolerated in any way,” Shah told a press conference here.

“The BJP’s stand is very clear; we will not tolerate any insult to ‘matri aur nari shakti’ (women empowerment),” he asserted.

Some explicit video clips allegedly involving Prajwal Revanna, the grandson of former prime minister H D Deve Gowda, were circulated in Hassan over the last few days.

The home minister said Congress has been alleging that an NDA partner’s candidate is involved in the incident, “but I just want to ask a small question - whose government is there in that state (Karnataka)?”

“The Congress is in power in Karnataka, and this matter must have come to their attention. Why has it not taken any action on it so far? We cannot take any action as law and order is a state issue,” Shah said.
