Kasargod, February 16: 43-year-old M Abubakar was arrested by local police when he allegedly tried to pass on seven fake currency notes of Rs.500 denomination at Kumbla, near here.
The police took action after an official identified the notes when he went to the Kerala State Electricity Board's Kumbla section office to clear three bills worth Rs.5,682 on Tuesday.
The notes were found to be thicker. The matter was taken up with the police, who arrested him.
He was produced before the Judicial First Class Magistrate Court here on Wednesday. The court released him on bail.
