Woman bites off man's tongue who tried to rape her

Beed (Maharashtra), February 17: A 25-year-old woman bit off a man's tongue when he tried to sexually assault her at her house in Javalgaon village in the district, police said today.

Anita Pawar, who works as a labourer, was alone at her house in the village on Wednesday when the accused, identified as Dadarao Hare (35), tried to force himself on her, they said.

In a bid to save herself from the attacker, Anita severed Hare's tongue with her teeth, police said.

The accused has been booked under sections 354(assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty), 452 (house trespass after preparation for hurt, assault or wrongful restraint) among other charges.

Police said Hare has been admitted in a local hospital and is recuperating.
