
He said that with the acquirement of the radiation machine by Health Care Global Enterprises, patients with brain tumours need not travel abroad for surgery. Surgeries for the treatment of curable brain tumours can be done in Bangalore at a cost of Rs 3- 5 lakhs depending upon the kind of tumour in a patient, he said, adding that the machine was acquired four years ago and was used in the treatment of over 1,000 patients.
Speaking about the machine, he said, “Cyberknife is the world's first non-invasive whole body robotic radio surgery system, which uses state-of-the-art real-time image guidance to precisely target tumours anywhere in the body with pinpoint accuracy. It delivers high doses of radiation and is non-invasive and painless. The machine also significantly reduces treatment time during a surgery, he said.
