Debacle in LS polls not a setback to Cong-JDS govt in Karnataka: Siddaramaiah

Bengaluru, May 24: Despite the severe setback to coalition partners Congress and Janata Das (S) in the just concluded Lok Sabha elections, the one-year-old coalition government would continue unhindered and complete its full five year term, Coordination Committee Chairman Siddaramaiah today said.

His comments comes in the wake of both the parties faring badly in the just concluded general election winning just one seat each. While Congress had contested in 21 seats, JD(S) under the coalition formula had contested in seven seats.

BJP had swept the polls under strong Modi current bagging 25 seats while Independent candidate supported by BJP Sumalatha won from Mandya.

Karnataka CM sanctions Rs 50 crore for emergencies due to rainfall

Bengaluru, Aug 6: Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa on Wednesday asked the state chief secretary to take necessary steps in view of the rising rainfall in the state and gave instructions for releasing Rs 50 crore for emergencies.

"CM BS Yediyurappa has instructed Chief Secretary to take appropriate precautions in view of the rise in rainfall activity across the state. CM advised Chief Secretary to keep in touch with district officials and instructed to release Rs 50 crores for emergencies," an official release said.

India Meteorological Department has issued a red alert in a number of districts in the state.

CS Patil, Director, India Meteorological Department (IMD) Bengaluru said that red alert has been announced in Udupi, Dakshina Kannada, Uttara Kannada, Chickamagalur, Shivamogga, Kodagu and Hassan due to heavy rainfall in the region from last two-three days.

HDK hits out at BSY govt over anniversary celebration amidst people's suffering

Bengaluru, Jul 27: Former Karnataka chief minister H D Kumaraswamy on Monday took strong exception to the BJP's celebration over completing one year in office and alleged that people are suffering due to anti-people policies of the state government.

In a tweet on Monday, he said that since the last six months pension due to physically challenged, old age and Widow pensions were not paid. He urged the Government Issue emerge order to release pension amounts immediately. It was shameful on the part of the Government to keep the pension amount being kept pending.

This government has no eyes and ears and claiming only challenging years and transparent government, what examples required for them, he questioned.

DK boy Anush among six students who scored 100% in SSLC exams-2020

Mangaluru, Aug 10: Abush A L from Dakshina Kannada is one of the six students who scored a perfect 625 out of 625 in Karnataka SSLC examinations, the results of which were announced today.

Anush is a student of Kumaraswamy High School located in Subrahmanya of Kadaba taluk in Dakshina Kannada.

Apart from Anush five more students have scored perfect marks in the SSLC examination this time. Besides, 11 students have missed the perfect score by just one mark (624 out of 625).
