Mangaluru/Udupi, Nov 11: In view of the forthcoming zilla panchayat and taluk panchayat elections in the state, Karnataka Election Commission has redrawn the extent and limits of the ZP constituencies in Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts.

Kuvettu in Belthangady taluk will be a new zilla panchayat constituency in Dakshina Kannada. Koyyur, Kaliya, Odilnala, Kuvettu, Machina, Maladi, Sonandur and Kukkala villages come under the Kuvettu constituency.
As per the notification issued by the Election Commission, Kinnigoli, Puthige, Shirthady, Kateel, Bajpe, Yedapadavu, Gurupura, Neermarga, Konaje and Someshwar in Mangaluru taluk, Sangabettu, Sarapady, Pudu, Golthamajalu, Mani, Kolnadu, Kurnadu, Sajipa Munnur and Punacha in Bantwal taluk, Naravi, Aladangady, Laila, Ujire, Dharmasthala, Kaniyoor and Kuvettu in Belthangady taluk, Uppinangady, Nelyadi, Kadaba, Belandur, Panaje and Nettanige Mudnoor in Puttur taluk, and Bellare, Guttigar, Jalsoor and Arantodu in Sullia taluk, have been declared as new constituencies in Dakshina Kannada zilla panchayat.
In Udupi zilla panchayat, the number of constituencies in Kundapur taluk has increased from nine to 10, with the inclusion of Beejadi as a new constituency. The previously existing Basroor constituency has been removed and Kavrady has taken its place.
With the inclusion of three gram panchayats, Kapu has been upgraded to town municipality. In its place, Kurkalu has been declared as a zilla panchayat constituency.
At present, Kota, Mandarthi, Perdoor, Brahmavar, Kalyanpur, Udyavara, Hiriyadka, Kurkalu, Shirva, Yellur and Padubidri in Udupi taluk, Shiroor, Byndoor, Kambadakone, Trasi, Wandse, Kavrady, Koteshwara, Beejadi, Siddapura and Halady in Kundapur taluk, and Hebri, Belman, Bailur, Miyar and Bajagoli in Karkala taluk have been declared as constituencies in Udupi zilla panchayat.
