
Mangalore, May 14: Dakshina Kannada Cooperative Milk Producers Union Ltd (DKMUL) will conduct an election on May 26 to elect a 16-member board of directors for a five-year term from 2014, said A C Renukaprasad, election officer for the DKMUL elections-2014.
Speaking at a press conference here on Wednesday, he said that the presidents of 639 cooperative societies of milk producers in Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts would elect the 16 members including two women directors. Presidents of all 154 cooperative societies in Mangalore division will have four votes each, including one for a post reserved for women. Similarly, presidents of all 189 cooperative societies in Puttur division will have five votes each, including one for a post reserved for women. Likewise, the presidents of 296 societies in Kundapur division will have eight votes each, including one for a post reserved for women, he said.
He said that the process of submitting nominations by candidates for the posts of board members had already begun and the last date to submit nominations was May 18. The nomination papers of the candidates will be reviewed on May 19, following which the eligible candidates will be allotted particular symbols for the elections. The voting process by the presidents of cooperative societies will be simultaneously on May 26 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and the results will be announced on the same day, he said.
