Mangaluru, Nov 1: A total of 21 achievers were conferred with the prestigious Dakshina Kannada district Kannada Rajyotsava Awards 2015 at the district-level programme at Nehru Maidan here on Sunday.
The district administration conferred the awards in the presence of DK district in-charge minister B Ramanath Rai and Deputy Commissioner A B Ibrahim on Sunday.
The Kannada Rajyotsava awardees in Dakshina Kannada are:
Agriculture: S D Sampath Samrajya (Moodbidri)
Education: Haji N Sulaiman Narsha (Bantwal) and U H Khalid Ujire (Mangaluru)
Social service: Corrine Antoniette Rasquinha (Mangaluru), C H Kochanna Rai (Puttur), Judith Mary Rita Mascarenhas (Mangaluru), Narayana P M (Moodbridri) and Urban Pinto (Mangaluru)
Journalism: Balakrishna Puthige (Prajavani, Mangaluru Bureau) and Lokesh Suratkal (Suratkal)
Sports: D M Aslam (Mangaluru) and Purandara P J (International athlete)
Medicine: Dr Vishwanath Nayak P (Bantwal)
Theatre/Yakshagana: Sharada Barkur (Mangaluru) and Manya Thimmaiah (Kasargod)
Institution: Saanidhya Residential School and Training Centre for Differently Abled (Shaktinagar, Mangaluru)
