
The family sources said Dr Ahmed completed BDS in 2003 and struggled to settle down in Bangalore. His father Mumtaz Ahmed passed away in 2009, and in 2010, Dr Ahmed went to Saudi Arabia.
“Dr Ahmed's older brother is an engineer and works in Qatar. Dr Ahmed worked in the Ministry of Health in Saudi Arabia, but quit the job in seven months. Later, he worked in a marketing company for a while and then joined a private clinic. When there was an issue with the transfer of working visa from the previous company, he returned to India. The private clinic had promised to send him a visa,” Rizvi said.
Dr Ahmed was at his Kanakapura Road apartment when NIA sleuths arrested him on charges of conspiring with other accused in an assassination plot.
The family sources said that Dr Ahmed had come back from Saudi Arabia 15 days ago. They said Dr Ahmed holds a genuine passport and is waiting for a visa to go back to Saudi Arabia. The NIA has reportedly named him as the 22nd accused in an assassination plot, in which a journalist and another accused Yusuf Nalaband were released for lack of evidence.
