Dubai, Sep 28: Around 2000 Nonresident Indians, most of them from Karnataka, took part in the Humanistic Conference organized by Karnataka Cultural Foundation (KCF) in United Arab Emirates.
Karnataka Health and Family Welfare Minister U T Khader formally inaugurated the event at Indian Academy School, Dubai.
Addressing the gathering, Mr Khader said that state government is committed to safeguard the interests of expatriates from Karnataka scattered across the Middle East.
The event was organized as a prelude to the much awaited Karnataka Yathre of Sheikh A P Aboobakar Musliyar under the slogan of'Respect the Mankind'. The Yathre will be held from October 25 to November 2 in Karnataka.
Karnataka Jamiyyathul Ulama president and Udupi Khazi Maulana P M Ibrahim Musliyar Bekal, presided over the function.
Former Union Minister and Karnataka State Planning Commission Vice Chairman C M Ibrahim, and a galaxy of religious and social leaders such as Shafi Saadi, Sayyed Fazal Koyamma Thangal Koorath, Abdurrasheed Zaini Kamil, Shaikh Bava, B M Mumthaz Ali and Asif Amaco were present among others.
Mohammed Imran, who is working in Abu Dhabi, won the KCF Umrah draw on the same occasion.
