Mangaluru, Jan 11: A Dubai-bound passenger from Bhatkal town has been arrested by a team of Central Crime Branch police from Bengaluru at Mangaluru International Airport barely minutes before he was to board an international flight.
Police sources claimed that based on inputs provided by the three men from Bhatkal arrested on Thursday for their suspected links with a banned outfit, CCB sleuths arrested Riyaz Ahmed Sayeedi (32), son of Khwaja Sayeedi, was picked up from the Airport.
Sayeedi, who hails from the coastal town of Bhatkal in the Uttara Kannada district, just like the three others arrested before him, had cleared immigration check at the airport and was waiting for his boarding call when the policemen in plain clothes approached and arrested him.
Sayeedi works at hardware stores in Dubai. He used to frequently visit his family in India. He was to take a Jet Airways flight at 11:25 pm, said sources in the Bengaluru Police. He was taken to Bengaluru soon after his arrest.
Meanwhile, a CCB team searched Sayeedi's house at Mugdum Colony in Bhatkal in the presence of the local police and his neighbours, but reportedly found no incriminating material.
Sources said Sayeedi was in constant touch with Syed Ismail Afaq (34), Saddam Hussein (35) and Abdus Subur (25), who were arrested recently. The police claimed that they had seized a huge cache of explosives from their houses.
