Mangaluru, Oct 24: A youth was arrested at Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport in Mumbai on Friday in connection with the two week old murder case of a Bajrang Dal activist in Moodbidri.
Revealing this to media persons in Mangaluru, ADGP Alok Mohan said that the immigration officials at the Airport took custody of Mohammed Imthiyaz (40) and handed him over to police.
With this the total number of arrested in the sensational case reached nine. Eight persons have already been arrested by the Mangaluru city police.
Mr Mohan said that Imthiyaz was planning to leave for Dubai to evade the arrest. “Imthiyaz was arrested minutes before he was supposed to board an international flight,” he said.
Admitting that it was a well-planned murder carried out by a few miscreants, the police officer said that a few more persons will be arrested in a few days in connection to the case.
Asked about the allegations on Popular Front of India and Social Democratic Party of India in connection with the murder case, he said that police no evidence has been found so far in this regard.
He however said that the police are getting into the bottom of the whole incident and truth will soon be exposed and necessary action will be taken against all the culprits.
It could be recalled here that flower vender and Bajrang Dal activist Prashant Poojary was hacked to death by miscreants on October 9 in Moodbidri.
