Mangaluru, Oct 13: Criticism and debate on the Yettinahole project in the public sphere is not appropriate, according to BJP leader and union minister DV Sandanada Gowda.
Speaking to reporters during his visit to his ancestral home in Sullia taluk on Monday, he said that proper information should be given to people in the district about the Yettinahole project.
Along with several protests occurring on a regular basis opposing the project, no attempts have been made to consider the different aspects of the project. Diverting water from 11 streams in Yettinahole at a height of 1,813 feet during the 100 days of rainfall will not cause any problem to people in Dakshina Kannada, he said.
He told reporters that he had been reiterating the need to give proper information to people about the Yettinahole project.
"As chief minister, I had earlier sent a group of officials from the irrigation department to Dakshina Kannada zilla panchayat to conduct a discussion in this regard," he said.
