Along with DYFI activists, family members of the three arrested in connection with the case participated in the protest in front of DC 's office.
The protestors demanded release of the innocent youth and a re-investigation in the murder case.
Addressing the protestors, DYFI district president Muneer Katipalla said that the police officials heading the teams constituted to investigate the murder case had fixed ' the case on three Muslim youth who were innocent. The arrested Hussain, Imran and Irshad are bread-winners in their families and strive hard to earn a livelihood. However, with mounting pressure on the police department by saffron organisations to nab the culprits in the murder case of the Bajrang Dal activist, the police officials in charge of the case Rajashekhar Maistry and Lingappa Poojary have arrested the three innocent youth although the accused bear no grudge against the victim or have links with any organisations. The accused have no criminal background either, he said, demanding that the SP should conduct a reinvestigation in the case.
He said that people might blindly believe that the culprits in the murder of a Bajrang Dal activist would be Muslims. However, it is not necessary that Rajesh Poojary was murdered by Muslims. Moreover, even the police have stated that the motive of murder was not revenge, he said, pointing that the police were yet to furbish the motive of the accused in the case.
He said that although district-incharge minister Ramanath Rai had assured of prompt action once elections were done with, however, the youth were still in jail. It is a tragedy for the district that neither the district minister nor MLA Moideen Bava have raised their voices objecting to this injustice, he said.
He warned of intense protests in front of the residences of minister Rai and MLA Bava, if no favourable action was taken in the case.
DYFI district secretary Dayananda Shetty, members Jeevan Raj Kuthar, Nithin Kuthar, Jabbar Mallur, Hussain 's mother Khatoon, Imran 's mother Shaheen and Irshad 's mother Nebisa and several others took part in the protest rally.
