Mangaluru, Jul 9: Briefing media persons on the pending number of cases related to the revenue department in the DC and AC courts in Dakshina Kannada, Deputy Commissioner A B Ibrahim said that out of the 842 cases which had been placed before the Deputy Commissioner's court till June 30, 2015, a total of 612 cases had been disposed, while the remaining 230 cases are still pending.

Under certain provisions in the Karnataka Land Revenue Act, 1964 and Karnataka Municipality Act, 1964, the Deputy Commissioner and the District Magistrate has the authority to hold court proceedings to resolve cases regarding issues related to the revenue department in the district such as disputes over land records, land grants and housing sites.
Presently, all the pending cases are those filed from April 2014 onwards, he said.
In the court of Assistant Commissioner, Mangaluru, a total of 3,224 cases were pending while 819 cases were pending before the court of Assistant Commissioner, Puttur.
He said that consistent efforts were being made for effective disposal of pending cases and court proceedings were conducted thrice in a week for speedy disposal of cases.
Mangaluru ADC Sadashiva Prabhu and Assistant Commissioner D R Ashok were present on the occasion.
